- Led countries in Africa in forming guidelines for fluid management in children with septic shock using the FEAST trial. These guidelines were formed before the World Health Organization modified their recommendations in this topic (KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Research Programme, Nairobi, Kenya).
- Challenged popular nutrition policies promoted in the country for very low carbohydrate, high saturated fat diets with a systematic review and a policy brief (Centre for Evidence-based Health Care) at the Stellenbosch Faculty of Health Sciences, South Africa).
- Leading initiatives in establishing and running PACTR, the African Trials register (South African Cochrane Centre at the South African Medical Research Council, Cape Town, South Africa).
- Promotion of research integrity in India, by training of medical journal editors, helping establish good practice for medical journal editors and ethics committees, and establishing the Clinical Trials Registry-India that has provided a template to improve transparency (South Asian Cochrane Network and Centre at the Prof BV Moses Centre for Research & Training in Evidence-Informed Healthcare and Health Policy, Christian Medical College, Vellore, India).
- Taken initiative regionally to run a Conference in Evidence Based Health Care in Chongqing (China Effective Health Care Network at the Chongqing Medical University, China).
