Cochrane South Asia is hosted by the Prof Bhooshanam V Moses Centre for Evidence-Informed Healthcare at CMC, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India. The hosting centre was established in December 2004 to build capacity in the institution to increase the uptake of reliable and locally relevant evidence to inform health decisions, and to co-ordinate the activities of what was then known as the South Asian Cochrane Network. It is named in memory of Prof. Bhooshanam Vasanthakumar Moses, who was Professor of Surgery and former Principal of the Christian Medical College, at the suggestion of his MBBS batch-mates, who also donated funds towards establishing some of the infrastructure of the Centre. CMC alone has more than a 100 clinicians involved as authors of systematic reviews.
